A surprising improvement over the rather badly flawed normal color version of this SRC Robot. The original was one of the worst Bandai SRC offerings. Suffering from wings that constantly fall apart. A problematic waist joint that would not rest flat as the armor spikes clashed with it. And a rather garish and unapealing paint scheme. The gold version unexpectedly fixes two of those issues. The waist joint is greatly improved. Not perfect, but better than it was. And the multi shaded gold coloring is actually very very compelling. It looks good. The wings still fall apart constantly.The robot itself is awkward. It has phenomenal articulation with legs so well articulated that the robot can kick itself in the butt. But it is hindered by all the spiky and off armor panels that constantly conflict or pop off.Overall it is a nice and truly distinct version of Solar Aquarian. One that will really stand out on the shelf. Normally I am not big on special recolors. But all the light and dark gold shading looks really good here. And for once it is somewhat appropriate as it represents a key moment of the anime robot.
