These do have the metal ends so may not for for you're purposes, they do for me. Very stretchy, more so than I expected. I guess I thought they would be like a regular boot lace that had a little stretch, they are in fact really stretchy. Other than that they seem very nice but I'll need more time to see how durable they are.Great product! Did two pairs of athletic shoes with one large pair of laces!Are these truly the "original" Old Kook stretchable laces with dipped lace ends?The "new" Old Kook laces I recently saw displayed at my local boot shop had metal tips which require boot eyelets at least 5/32" in diameter for them to pass through. The store owner had a sign warning potential purchasers that he can no longer get the original Old Kook laces with dipped lace ends (which will pass through the smaller boot eyelets on many hiking and backpacking boots).Anyway, if you can get the ends through your boot eyelets, I highly recommend these laces. They last months and months, don't fray easily and the stretchable laces expand/contract slightly as you walk. They work like a dream while providing a very secure ankle support. And the laces stay tied without double knotting!
