Description

The Green Family moved to Central Kentucky in the mid-1850's. The book, "How They Make Angels", is a factual account of the Green's, with a good mix of fiction. The story chronicles the lives of three generations of one family, from Pre-Civil War, through the Great Depression, and World War II. The author, Glyndon E. Green, is a member of the fourth generation of the Green's from Harmon's Lick. The book was compiled from stories and conversations shared with friends and families over a period of 50+ years. The stories included in this offering are based upon factual events, with a great deal of fiction mixed in. This is the first of a series of three books about "The Green's of Harmon's Lick". Please enjoy, "How They Make Angels".

This is not only a good read, but an extremely indepth account of the evolution of a family in Appalachia before the civil war. You get an instant sense of being in 1850s Tennessee and Kentucky and what those people faced day to day. Sprinkled with colorful characters and yarns that will have you laughing and crying while on the edge of your seat, How They Make Angels is a must read, especially if you want to be taken away from today's 24 hour news cycle life. I highly recommend it and cannot wait for the second book to come out.
